Last Saturday I had my first gallery opening of the Afghanistan work. The show was written up in the local paper, The Poughkeepsie Journal.
And another local Magazine called The Chronogram did a piece on it as well.
The parents of LT Miller, a soldier I met at the KOP, drove 2 hours just to come to the show. Here is a picture of them and a picture of LT Miller.
also – there is a review of kingston show here :

Don’t forget my next opening on June 9th!!!!! Hope to see you there.

Sgt. Edelman L. Hernandez, 23, of Hyattsville, Md., died April 11 in Korengal Valley, Afghanistan, while on combat patrol. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.

He was not taken by hostel fire or enemy contact. His squad was returning from a patrol when he fell into the water during a river crossing and couldn’t get his gear off in time.
He was in waist deep water.

letters to the editor.

On behalf of my son who is fighting in Afghanistan, thank you for bringing attention to the war there ["The Taliban Hunters," by Joshua Hammer, March]. My son has done tours in South Korea and Iraq. When I tell people he is currently in Afghanistan they believe he is safe and say, “thank God he isn’t in Iraq.” But I have spent many days writing condolences to families who have lost loved ones this year in Afghanistan. A bullet or IED there is just as deadly as a bullet anywhere. We are fighting two wars, but the media and Congress seem to recognize only one. -Anne Conrad, Scottsville, AZ

sad news from Korengal Outpost

March 31, 2007

On Thursday morning, 2nd Platoon A CO came under small arms fire and RPG fire. The platoon immediately requested and received both mortar and artillery support to suppress the enemy attack. Unfortunately, during the course of the engagement,SPC Christopher Wilson was Killed in action. SSG Lomen, SPC McHargue and PFC May were all seriously injured.
After hearing the news, SPC Christopher Wilsons mother sent out a one line email that said simply:
‚ÄúI lost my beautiful son today.”

When will the media start to realize that Americans want to know what is going on in Afghanistan?
