
Sgt. Edelman L. Hernandez, 23, of Hyattsville, Md., died April 11 in Korengal Valley, Afghanistan, while on combat patrol. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.
He was not taken by hostel fire or enemy contact. His squad was returning from a patrol when he fell into the water during a river crossing and couldn’t get his gear off in time.
He was in waist deep water.

I spent over two years of my life with Eddie. I was in the same squad as him in Iraq. Thank you for remembering him, he will always be missed.

God I miss this kid… it’s 10:13 pm right now and I should be asleep since I have to get up for work at 330 tomorrow morning for funerals but my thoughts keep me up… Have you ever thought about coming to photograph Arlington? Even though Eddie isn’t here but in MD there are 5 guys here from 1-32, a BC from 3-71, and a scout section leader that releaved our scouts in the korengal all here…
